Introduction.

Hi, my name is Phil and I've just bought a 2006 Ibiza 3 1.2 6L. It has a few issues, as I knew it would, and I will work my way through them and report on my progress.

The previous owner admitted difficulty passing the IPO and said he changed an O2 sensor, catalytic converter and a fuel pump, but I have yet to confirm this. The car has its IPO.

When I bought the car, I filled it up with fuel and drove it for three weeks, with the only issues being the engine light and a "too rich" code. However, last week, whilst climbing a hill, the engine cut out. It restarted a few minutes later, and I considered it was fuel starvation, so I vented the tank and continued on my way. It happened again today, twice. I had driven nearly 500 kilometres on a tank full of petrol, but the fuel gauge was still showing about a quarter full.

Where are my thoughts now?

I have had a tank vent valve on order for a week, and today I ordered a new fuel tank sender to see if that corrects the fuel gauge issue and a fuel filter just in case.

It will take about ten days for me to receive and fit these, but I will keep this post updated, if only for my own purposes.

I am not concerned with these issues because there always comes a time when an owner must decide if it is worth their time and money to continue maintaining a vehicle, even if it is to flip it, or pass it on to someone else who can see the value in it.

Good evening. Be well.
